Job Description


We are a busy, patient-focused ophthalmology practice dedicated to delivering high-quality eye care and exceptional service. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized professional to join our team in a multi-functional role supporting billing, insurance authorization, and front office operations.

Position Overview
The Billing, Authorization & Front Office Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring smooth daily operations, accurate revenue cycle processes, and excellent patient experience. This position serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance carriers, and third-party billing services.

Key Responsibilities
* Billing & Revenue Cycle
* Coordinate with third-party billing services to facilitate timely payments
* Process and reconcile daily patient and insurance payments; prepare deposits
* Manage in-house billing, co-management accounts, and payment follow-ups
* Ensure pre-payment for surgical and specialty services when applicable
* Insurance Authorizations
* Obtain and manage authorizations for exams, procedures, and surgeries
* Assist front office with verifying insurance eligibility, benefits
* Maintain and update authorization records in EHR systems
* Communicate with insurance providers, referring offices, and patients

Front Office & Patient Services
* Assist front office with reception duties including:
* Greet and check in/out patients with professionalism and care
* Schedule appointments, confirm visits, and handle cancellations/no-shows
* Collect co-pays and maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance records
* Assist with Medical Records
* Scan and maintain patient documentation in EHR systems
* Ensure accuracy of patient charts, CPT coding, and claims data
* Support compliance with HIPAA/PHI standards

* Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in medical billing, authorizations, or front office (ophthalmology preferred)
* Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Nextech & EPIC)
* Strong knowledge of authorization processes, insurance verification and general billing process
* Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
* High attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
